After receiving classical training, Anne Le Beau turned to contemporary dance and studied at the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal (formerly LADMMI). She graduated in 1987, and for over 20 years has danced for several nationally and internationally renowned companies and choreographers.
Ms. Le Beau began her career with choreographers Isabelle Van Grimde and Sylvain Émard. She then joined Danièle Desnoyers’ company Le Carré des Lombes. She also danced for Linda Gaudreau, Catherine Tardif, Paola de Vasconcelos, David Presseault, Dominique Porte, Alain Francoeur, Manon Oligny, Martin Bélanger and Dave Saint-Pierre. She was a member of Flak, directed by José Navas, as well as Louise Bédard Danse. As a result of these partnerships, she participated in many tours to several cities in Canada, the US, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Scotland and Japan.
Ms. Le Beau is interested in acting and works with director Brigitte Haentjens, who created a solo for her as part of Traces d’Interprètes, produced by Danse Cité. She was also part of the impressive cast of Tout comme Elle, directed by Brigitte Haentjens. In 2005, Sophie Deraspe gave Ms. Le Beau the lead in her film Rechercher Victor Pellerin, selected for the 2007 Jutras.
Along with her dance career, Anne is devoted to teaching. She has given numerous courses abroad and for more than 30 years has been on the staff of the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal, where she teaches contemporary technique and repertoire.
In 2007, Ms. Le Beau received the Jacqueline-Lemieux Prize, awarded by the Canada Council for the Arts, in recognition of her outstanding dance achievements. le Conseil des Arts du Canada en reconnaissance de ses réalisations exceptionelles en danse.
