Massimo Agostinelli

Bouffon

Massimo Agostinelli, italien et d’origine sud africaine, est chorégraphe indépendant et maître professeur de Bouffon. Il est artiste de Montréal depuis 38 ans. M. Agostinelli est chorégraphe et professeur résident pour l'École de danse contemporaine depuis 1987; chorégraphe et directeur artistique pour la troupe Tanz Danse du Collège Montmorency depuis 1994; et formateur artistique (danse, bouffon, chorégraphie) pour Le Cirque du Soleil depuis 2004. Massimo Agostinelli a aussi fait la mise-en scène de deux événements « corpo » pour le Cirque Éloize. Il est aussi régulièrement chorégraphe et/ou professeur de Bouffon invité pour The School de Toronto Dance Theatre (Toronto); l’École de Danse de Québec (Québec); The School of Dance (Ottawa); Canterbury High School, Département de danse, Cégep de Drummondville entre autres. Il a aussi enseigné à Dansens Hus (Danemark) et l’Académie de Danse de Rotterdam (Pays-Bas), et a participé à plusieurs festivals, travail de film et production indépendante. Massimo Agostinelli est spécialiste de chorégraphie, danse contemporaine, improvisation danse et de bouffon.

About the workshop:

The word bouffon comes from a Latin verb: buffare ; the word "Buffo" was used in the Roman theatre by those who appeared on the stage with their cheeks blown up; when they received blows that they would make a great noise causing the audience to laugh. The usage of the word bouffon comes from French and has entered English theatrical language through the work of Jacques Lecoq and his pedagogic inquiry into performance approaches of comedy, leading him to create dynamic classroom exercises that explored elements of burlesque, commedia dell'arte, farce, gallows humor, parody, satire, slapstick, etc. that collectively influenced the development of modern bouffon performance work.
