Montreal, January 11, 2021 – The École de danse contemporaine de Montréal is very pleased to receive a grant from the Ministry of Culture and Communications, granted under the Digital Outreach Program.
This $45,000 assistance has made it possible to adapt its model for disseminating courses and end-of-term shows beginning in the fall 2020 term. It has also provided the opportunity to support all stakeholders in this transition, mainly the teaching team and students.
“The current context of COVID-19 has forced us to review our teaching strategies in order to comply with government guidelines. We would like to thank the Ministry of Culture and Communications for awarding this grant, which has allowed us to revise the School’s entire training offer in order to adapt to this new reality,” said Yves Rocray, Executive Director of the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal.
Distance learning and the acquisition of skills will still be important after the pandemic, so it makes sense to share learning about these new technological solutions. In the near future, the School will implement several other digital initiatives in order to reach more people interested in improving their dance skills. To this end and to share knowledge, the EDCM will disseminate testimonials by various stakeholders who participated in the implementation for institutions wishing to acquire similar expertise.
This grant supports arts education provision, dissemination and outreach in Quebec while maintaining the level of training excellence of future leaders in the performing arts.
