The School is proud to participate to Fils de ville / City Thread, a performance created by RUBBERBANDance Group.
Involving 40 dancers, including graduating dancers of l'École de danse contemporaine de Montréal, and as many participants as the Esplanade of Place des Arts can accommodate, dance, music, and architecture come together in a multidisciplinary outdoor performance. Members of the public, phone in hand, choose to follow one or another group of dancers on designated itineraries, guided by an exclusive smartphone application. Although hundreds of spectators may actively participate in the performance, headsets allow each one to experience the moment in a private space thanks to a unique soundtrack that unfolds as the spectator winds through the public space and the dancers’ bodies. Simultaneously, multiple private experiences are taking place in tandem as the performance is in continual movement. Randomness, decision-making, and the onlookers are also integral parts of the experience.
City Thread premiered on August 29, 2017, in Montreal, on the Esplanade of Place des Arts, as part of the celebration of the 375th anniversary of the city.
Tuesday to Sunday at 5:15 pm and 7 pm between August 29 and September 10.
No shows on September 4th – September 2nd performances have been moved to 1 pm and 3 pm.
Lenght: 30 min
No ticket required, but a smart phone with the free app and headphones are mandatory.
