Christophe Benoit-Piau
Originally from Drummondville (QC, Canada), Christophe Benoit-Piau starts developping an interest in dance at the age of 10. In his early years, his interests are directed towards classical ballet, Simonson jazz and modern dance. While completing his DEC in dance at the Cégep de Drummondville institution in 2017, he discovers a passion for contemporary dance. He then wants to intensify his training by graduating from École de danse contemporaine de Montréal (QC)(EDCM) in 2020. During his training, he gets the chance to work with renowed artists and choreographers such as Linda Rabin, Clara Furey, Frédérick Gravel, Manuel Roque, Sophie Corriveau and the La Tresse collective.
In symbiosis with his training as an interpreter-creator, Christophe also cultivates a strong interest in teaching as a way of self-understanding and knowlegde transfer. In his teaching approach and his desires as an interpreter, he wants to bring a consciousness of the human body in its environment in relation to others and itself. Through the different encounters he has experienced at EDCM, Christophe plans to fully invest himself in multiple projects as a choreographer and/or as an interpreter.
