Fanny Hamel

Fanny Hamel is a contemporary dance artist based in Montreal. Originally from France, she began her dance training at the Conservatoire de Nantes, studying contemporary dance and ballet (Diplôme d’Etudes Chorégraphiques, 2022). A 2026 graduate of the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal (EDCM), Fanny has performed in works by Alan Lake, Mélanie Demers, and Cai Glover that particularly resonated with her.
She seeks to transform herself through dance, to become someone else, and to reveal herself in a new form. Through movement, Fanny seeks to connect with others and her environment, which is why she greatly enjoys working with partners.
She is also interested in sculpture and scenography, which inspire her deeply. She wishes to develop this connection between dance and other art forms in order to provide her choreographic movement with a vast playground.
In this vein, Fanny explores her own creative universe with curiosity. She has notably choreographed several solos during her training, such as Etats d’homme (2024) and Enfants Gâtés (2025—performed by Melhya Kilic).
