Jessica Muszynski
TeacherJessica Joy Muszynski is a dancer and choreographer of Filipino and Polish descent. She began her training in Richmond, BC before moving to Calgary, AB in 2012. In 2019, she graduated from the inaugural class of USC Kaufman, where she worked closely with William Forsythe, performing Enemy in the Figure and In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated, as well as works by Crystal Pite, Jiří Kylián, and Alejandro Cerrudo. Since graduating, she has been a member of RUBBERBAND—now in her seventh season—and has also performed with Aszure Barton & Artists, Anne Plamondon Productions, and Vías Danses. Jessica is the founder of JJSI Collective (est. 2020), with works presented at Festival de Danse Contemporaine de Sherbrooke, Tangente’s Buissonnière program, and Festival Quartiers Danses, where she received the “Prix Découverte” for her piece fam ly. Her choreographic work explores the tensions of conflict—its causes, consequences, and how it sits in the body. Through pieces like Tête-à-Tête and All My Fears, she investigates opposing emotions and aims to create space for viewers to safely inhabit and grieve chaos. Photo: Connory Ballantyne |
