Functional anatomy
A professional in the artistic field for more than 20 years, Myriam Saad first worked in Montreal theatre and dance as an actress, choreographer, dancer and coach. Above all, she is fervently devoted to education in institutions and in her private practice. She has been teaching functional anatomy applied to contemporary dance in LADMMI’s regular program for 10 years. She also gives Pilates training classes for young dancers in training and dance professionals.
Her fascination with movement and inquisitive nature have led her to be captivated by the mechanisms of somatic experience. She successfully completed a Master's degree in Somatic Education at the Dance Department of Université du Québec à Montréal (2003). She received contemporary dance training at Concordia University (1991), a certificate in Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analysis (LIMS / New York, 1996), and teacher training in the Pilates method, (PolestarPilates / Montreal, Miami, 1999). She recently received advanced somatic training in the Feldenkrais method with Yvan Joly.
Myriam is very involved in the contemporary dance community. Over several years, she has launched and carried out ongoing training projects for professional artists to integrate somatic education into dance practice. She has taught at the Dance Department at Université du Québec à Montréal, has participated as a speaker at several conferences on the health of performing artists, and continues to give training courses organized by Regroupement québécois de la danse. She synthesizes various somatic approaches, such as Body-Mind Centering™, the Feldenkrais Method™ and Bartenieff Fundamentals.™ She is an invaluable source of knowledge, which she hopes to enthusiastically share for many more years. She also has her studio practice, Au cœur du Mouvement, where she specializes in neuromuscular training and post-rehabilitation using the Pilates method.
