Iban Bourgoin

Originally from Biarritz, France, Iban Bourgoin discovered dance at the age of 15, and soon decided to devote all his time to it. He trained at the Maurice Ravel Conservatory, where he obtained a Diplôme d’Étude Chorégraphique, before pursuing his artistic development in Canada. Based in Montreal, he is currently completing his training in interpretation at the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal (EDCM), where he is refining his approach to movement in an international setting.
Throughout his training and career, he has been immersed in numerous projects that have enabled him to explore contrasting choreographic universes and sharpen his artistic identity. Working alongside choreographers of varying sensibilities, he has developed an approach to movement that is at once precise, confident and instinctive.
Creation occupies an important place in his career. With his TRIO project, he deepens his reflection on the expressive possibilities of pure movement and affirms his vision. Convinced that dance can forge unique links between disciplines and communities, he also organizes interdisciplinary jams in Montreal, aimed at bringing artists together and fostering exchange.
For him, dance is a universal language, a powerful tool for exploring, connecting and transmitting. He hopes to continue this exploration with professional companies, contributing to ambitious projects while helping to raise the profile of contemporary dance on the international scene.
