Tom Godefroid

A native of Belgium, Tom Godefroid’s passion for dance began as a child. Oriented towards contemporary dance, he took a sports-study option at the Athénée Royal de Fragnée, marking his desire to pursue a professional career. At sixteen, he perfected his skills at the Alvin Ailey and Martha Graham schools in New York. At seventeen, he signed his first professional contract with the Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège, laying the foundations for his career. During his Ways Training in Belgium, he explored his emerging talent as a choreographer with his first work, À l’envers. At the age of nineteen, he enriched his training at the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal (Québec, Canada), where he was introduced to the works of Andréa Peña and Marie Chouinard, and performed repertory pieces as well as original creations by choreographers such as Stéphanie Lake, Ohad Naharin, Parts+Labour_Danse, Charles Brecard… Tom continues his singular path in contemporary dance, charting his course with rigor.
