Émile de Vasconcelos-Taillefer
Recreational classesÉmile de Vasconcelos-Taillefer has always had a keen interest in the performing arts, but it was only in his early adulthood that he began to aspire to become a dancer. His primary passion was words and literature, which led him to study liberal arts at Marianopolis College with the aim of broadening and deepening his understanding of the world to enrich his writing. In 2017, his studies were interrupted by medical leave, during which he took his first dance class. He instantly fell in love with it and diligently enrolled in every recreational ballet class he could find. After a brief stint at the École Supérieure de Ballet du Québec, he joined the pre-professional program at Ballet Divertimento, graduating in 2020. That same year, he enrolled in the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal program, where his love for dance deepened and focused. Today, Émile seeks to explore and exploit all dimensions of his art. As a performer, he is keenly interested in partner work and the fusion of theater and dance on stage. As a creator, he draws on his academic knowledge and combines it with his art to support certain activist causes. Photo: Xavier Macdonald |
