Catherine Simard

A dance artist based in Tiohtiá:ke/Montreal, Catherine Simard began her career in classical ballet before diving into the world of contemporary dance through the professional program at the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal (2023-2026).
Her journey, nourished by the work of numerous choreographers she met during her training (notably Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Alan Lake, Virginie Brunelle, Anne Plamondon, and Victor Quijada), has refined her keen curiosity for the work of partners, the precision of lines, and the power of the human body.
As a theater lover, she is particularly interested in the areas of overlap between this discipline and dance. The use of voice, expressiveness, emotional charge, and the richness of stage devices deeply influence her approach to performance and creation.
Her deepest desire is to contribute to the enrichment of the Montreal scene and the perpetuation of Quebec art.
