Hortense Sierka

Originally from Marseille (France), Hortense discovered her artistic vocation at the Conservatoire Communal de Marignane. At the age of 17, she entered the Conservatoire Régional de Lille, where she spent two years in the preparatory class for higher education and obtained her Examen d’aptitude technique (EAT).
Enriched by her studies, she moved to Canada and joined the interpreter program at the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal. Graduating in 2025, Hortense now makes the link between Europe and Canada.
The richness of the program has given her the opportunity to collaborate with choreographers from diverse backgrounds, and to explore a wide variety of choreographic material. Among the choreographers she has performed for are: Sofia Nappi, Ohad Naharin, Catherine Gaudet, Dana Gingras, Sylvain Émard…
These diverse explorations and her initial passion for street dance brought her particularly close to the work of Sofia Nappi, where she discovered a powerful blend of groove, theater, narrative and embodiment, between her inner self and her intimate research. These influences continue to profoundly influence her academic practice and shape her artistic philosophy.
Attracted by the unique identity and signature of individuals, she develops an instinctive gestural style, deeply colored by her sensations. Hortense is deeply interested in the human aspect of dance, and all the emotional and energetic aspects that this implies. She finds calm and rest in nature, which remains her primary source of inspiration for her work as a performer.
