Manon Scialfa
Manon Scialfa is a queer BIPOC dancer, poet and artist based in Montréal Her dance training started in 2013 at the New Orleans Ballet Association (NOBA), where she trained in modern, neoclassical, and contemporary techniques for six years. During that time, she performed with companies such as Limόn Dance Company, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Ballet Hispánico, and Complexions Contemporary Ballet. Due to her exposure to a broad range of artistic processes and repertoires, her style is defined by fusion and versatility, especially influenced by her time with Ron K. Brown/EVIDENCE’s afro-contemporary style and an initiation in afro-cuban dance with Rebecca Bliss. She continued her dance education in Montréal, where she joined the EDCM (École de danse contemporaine de Montréal – Québec, Canada) cohort of 2021-2024. At EDCM, she has worked with choreographers such as Charles Brecard, Stephanie Lake, and Parts+Labour_Danse. Manon is also a published poet. She hopes to continue writing, making visual poems, creating interdisciplinary art, and always dancing. Her life in art reflects her multicultural identity, her love of sharing stories, and her belief in radical happiness amid the social and political climates we live in.
