Charles Cardin-Bourbeau
Charles was born and raised in Whitehorse, Yukon and completed his professional contemporary dance training at The School of Dance in Ottawa in 2013. Upon graduating, he joined Compagnie ODD, where he worked with choreographers Yvonne Coutts, Tedd Robinson, Noam Gagnon and Andrew Turner. He also works with Toronto choreographers Darryl Tracy and Riley Sims. From 2014 to 2016, as a member of O Vertigo Danse under the direction of Ginette Laurin, Charles performed Soif, KHAOS and petites formes in Canada and Europe. He then danced for Compagnie Marie Chouinard from 2016 to 2018, touring North America, Europe and Asia with eight cult works from the company’s repertoire, including Le Sacre du printemps, Henri Michaux : Mouvements and bODY_rEMIX/lES_vARIATIONS_gOLDBERG. Since then, he has collaborated with companies such as Entitey/Jason Martin, Van Grimde/Corps secrets, Dorsale Danse and Louise Bédard Danse. He is currently working with Sylvain Émard Danse and Théâtre à l’eau Froide. As a choreographer, Charles has created and presented A Garden (for my beloved) (2014), Little Studies for Homo sapiens (2016), the series A Forest (for all the lost souls) (2016 – 2020), Un enclos (pour l’impératrice) (2023) and recently choreographed the Théâtre à l’eau froide production, Cygnes noirs (2024).
