EDCM is pleased to welcome two young international choreographers in 2020 following a successful open call for a mobility program released this summer: Ti Nguyen is the winner of the Pépinières européennes program/ Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, and Yotam Peled is the winner of EDCM.
Both will create original pieces for the graduating students show that wil be presented in May. Congratulations!
Ti Nguyen is developing a work based on different processes of research, creation and interpretation of choreographic matters, between dance and contemporary theatre, relying on captures of surrounding realities as well as working with the architecture of objects, materials, visual and soundscapes. 2011-2018, she collaborated as a researcher, creator and performer with Farm in the Cave International Studio, physical theatre company based in Prague. In 2016, she was nominated Dancer of the year by Opera Plus and Czech Dance Platform for her performance in Disconnected. She collaborated with physical theatre artists as Laboratorio of Castaldo, Katharina Seyferth, choreographers as Pascal Delhay, La Ribot, directors as Michel Mathieu. She attended intensive workshops including Edivaldo Ernesto, Shanti Vera & Sendic Vazquez, Francisco Cordova Azuela, Diego Sanou, Los INnato, Hofesh Shechter, Peeping Tom, Batsheva, TJ Lowe, Daniel Abreu, Wendy Houston, Teatr Zar, Atsushi Takenouchi. Yotam Peled is a contemporary dancer, choreographer, acrobat and teacher. He was born in a Kibbutz in the north of Israel '89. Since childhood he has practiced fine arts, athletics, and Capoeira. At the age of 21, he began dancing, and later on pursued higher education in contemporary circus, theater and dance. In 2015, after working in several projects in Israel, he relocated to Berlin. Parallel to working as a freelance dancer in companies around Europe (Maura Morales, Yann Lheureux, Troels Primdahl, Jill Crovisier, Mitia Fedotenko), he has created his own work which toured in festivals and venues in Israel, Germany, Poland, Italy, Spain, France, Japan, Thailand and Vietnam. His solo performance Boys Don’t Cry has received awards from Awaji Circus Art festival, Wurzburg tanzSpeicher, Masdanza festival, Gdansk dance festival and Corpomobile festival Rome. His first ensemble work Entropia was created as part of the project Think Big in the Opera of Hannover. He also was selected for TalentLAB#19 in the Grand Theatre of Luxembourg, which creative process was mentored by choreographer Hofesh Shechter. During their creative residency, which will take place between March 23rd and May 23rd, 2020, both will create an original piece for the graduating students show, as part of the contemporary dance interpretation class. The result of their works will be presented at the show Les danses de mai, Opus 2020, from May 17 to 23, 2020 at the Wilder-Espace Dance Building.
