Contemporary dance classes invite you to explore movement through floor exercises, movement patterns, sequences, and short choreographed routines. Guided by the instructor, each student progresses at their own pace through an approach focused on exploration, fluidity, and physical expression.
Discover a dynamic and creative way to move while developing your coordination, confidence, and presence. Inspiring classes taught by passionate professionals await you in a welcoming and stimulating atmosphere.

Discover new ways to unleash your talent and stay fit through contemporary dance. The École de danse contemporaine de Montréal offers a stimulating learning environment and access the expertise of trained professional - all in our studios located in the heart of downtown Montréal, in the Édifice Wilder-Espace Danse.

Classes are transmitted in French.

Levels: coming this fall 2026

Tailored to each student’s abilities, the beginner contemporary dance class focuses on developing ease of movement, increasing flexibility, learning the basic vocabulary and fundamental concepts of contemporary dance, and—above all—enjoying dance!

Profile: Beginners to dance or those returning to dance after several years. Ages 16 and up.

Prerequisites:
- Be able to sustain moderate-intensity physical exertion
- Have a desire to move and explore contemporary dance

Focused on enjoyment, the Progression contemporary dance class aims to further develop basic contemporary dance technique and explore personal expression.

Profile: Must have completed the previous level (Level 1) for 1 to 2 years or already have a foundation in contemporary dance. Ages 16 and up.

Prerequisites:
- Be able to sustain moderate-intensity physical exertion
- Have a good memory
- For contemporary dance: be comfortable performing exercises both standing and on the floor

Designed for students who already have a solid foundation in contemporary dance, the Master (3) dance classes aim to strengthen their technique and incorporate different qualities and nuances into their dance practice, all while maintaining the joy of dancing to develop their personal expression.

Profile: Must have completed the previous level (Level 2) for 1 to 2 years or have an intermediate level in contemporary dance. Ages 16 and up.

Prerequisites
- Be able to sustain high-intensity physical effort and maintain a fast pace
- Have a very good memory
- Be able to orient oneself in a contemporary dance class without demonstration (center, traverses, diagonals, etc.)
- Be able to perform basic contemporary dance techniques without demonstration

  • Summer 2026: 8 classes – May 25 to July 18
  • Fall 2026: 12 classes – September 12 to December 7 | Except on October 10 and 12
  • Winter 2027: 11 classes – January 9 to March 25
  • Spring 2027: 7 classes – April 3rd to May 20
  • Summer 2027: 7 classes – May 31st to July 14
